Andaman & Nicobar currency

The official currency of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands is the Indian rupee (INR), which is the same currency used in the rest of India. The Reserve Bank of India issues the currency in various denominations, including coins and notes.

While most businesses in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands accept Indian rupees, it is recommended to carry cash in smaller denominations, as change may not always be available. Many hotels, restaurants, and shops also accept credit and debit cards, but it is advisable to check beforehand to avoid any inconvenience.

Foreign currency exchange facilities are available at the airport, banks, and some authorized money changers in the major towns of the islands. It is advisable to exchange foreign currency only at authorized exchange centres to avoid any fraudulent activities.

Also, keep in mind that ATMs are not widely available outside of the major towns and cities, so it is recommended to carry enough cash to cover your expenses during your visit.
